Since the bikeways were installed in front of the Primary Campus on High Street, the line markings were changed by the Department of Main Roads to disallow U-Turns across the lined traffic island.
This has obviously created an inconvenience for our school community as it has made turning around from the school and heading down High Street towards town a longer journey.
Many people have chosen to use the Uniting Church carpark and driveway as a legal means to conduct the U-Turn. Reverend Kaye Ronalds, the Uniting Church Minister, has raised safety concerns about this practice. At busy times, particularly after school, there are many families using the Uniting Church carpark to park in order drop off or pick up students (from school or to dancing). Having additional cars using the driveway for U-Turns places additional risk for the students and families.
Accordingly, drivers are asked to NOT use the Uniting Church driveway to do their U-Turns.
Thankyou in advance for your co-operation in this matter.
