SPORT
Darling Downs Regional Cross Country
In last fortnight's newsletter, a number of students were listed as having attended the Darling Downs Regional Cross Country.
Apologies to Year 6 student, Emily Robinson, whose name was accidently missed from being mentioned as having also attended the event.
Squash State Championships
Secondary student, Anika Rossington recently competed in the Squash State Championships held at Sandgate. The competition was held from the 26th - 28th May.
Over 3 days of competition, Anika came away with a 5 wins and 2 losses in both the singles and doubles competition.
Anika performed exceptionally well at the championships, finishing 9th overall.
Congratulations Anika !
The basketball competition at the Stanthorpe Fitness centre started mid-way through Term 1, wrapping up last week.
There were 6 teams from St Joey’s ranging from Years 4-10. In total, approximately 45 students participated in the competition with some playing a few games and others playing out the whole season.
It was fantastic to see everyone participating in a new sport, for most of them, and watching the teams gel more and more each week.
Sport is really a great opportunity for trying something new, staying fit and active and also for socialising with the wider community. I hope to see the numbers keep rising for basketball in the community !
