Year 6 students learned what happens at a molecular level when a change of state occurs (gas, liquid, solid).

The soft drink bottle/ballon experiment allowed students to see molecular movement in action: when the air is heated the molecules begin to move around, become less dense and rise, causing the balloon to inflate. The opposite occurs when the air is cooled.
