Happenings

St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2020

Last week, Teen Vinnies officially launched the 2020 SVDP Winter Appeal.  To kick start this appeal, Teen Vinnies are holding a Lip Sync Battle where competitors and audience members are asked to donate a tin of food for the appeal.  The search is on to find St. Joey’s lip sync champions and I am sure the talent will be amazing.

Prefect Melissa Petroccitto will also be championing the winter appeal, as she takes on this project as part of her Mercy value “Option for the Poor”.  Mel will be promoting some class rivalry as she launches the Tinnies for Vinnies – the Count is On Competition!  Primary classes will battle it out to see which class can collect and donate the most cans to the Winter Appeal - the winning class will get to enjoy a delicious lunch of yummy pizzas.  Secondary students, when donating cans, will have the opportunity to guess the amount of jelly beans in a jar - the amount of guesses they receive will be equivalent to the amount of cans they each donate.

Good luck students and lets get "Counting" !

Seminarians Visit Our School

As part of their rural placement, two Banyo seminarians, Michael Tran and Brad Davies will be living and working in St Joseph’s Parish this week.  Brad and Michael together with Fr Brian will visit the school and hopefully have the opportunity to spend some time with the students.  We warmly welcome Michael and Brad to our community and hope they enjoy their time on the Granite Belt.

Catholic Education Week

Each year Catholic Education Week is celebrated during Week 3 of Term 3.  Due to Covid restrictions this year Catholic Education Week has been cancelled, however, as a school we will still acknowledge the importance of Catholic education and what it means to be part of the St. Joseph’s School community.

Yr 12- “We love the care and community that St Joseph's school offers and the willingness of all staff and students to learn.”

Yr 9- “St Joseph’s school feels like a community, teachers take time to get to know us, the school is filled with opportunity!”

Yr 11& Yr7- “At St Josephs, you learn good morals and how to be a better person, everyone is really nice!”

Yr 2 - “St Josephs is really fun, we love to learn!”

Mixed grades playing handball - “We love the great education, it’s really fun and because it’s a Catholic school we get to go to church.”

Preppies - “We like St Joseph's, praying to God and we love assemblies!”

Yr 4/5 - “It’s really fun to learn with all of our friends.”

Mixed grades - “We have great teachers, and everyone is really nice!”

Preppies - “We really like going to school so we can learn, we love Joeys!”
