COURAGE TO CARE VISIT INSPIRES YEAR 8 STUDENTS

On Tuesday, February 18, the Secondary Campus hosted the Courage to Care team for an impactful session with our Year 8 students as part of the Upstander Programs. These programs aim to educate and empower students to stand up against prejudice and discrimination.

The Courage to Care team, including Andree, Delwyn, Rosemary, and Kayla, brought their wisdom, passion, and humanity to our school, leaving a lasting impression on both students and staff. Through engaging activities and a powerful survivor story from Kayla about her husband Adam’s experience as a Jewish child in Poland in 1939, the team highlighted the importance of standing up for what is right and the impact one person can make in the face of injustice.

Teachers expressed their gratitude, noting how the visit reminded them of the purpose behind their work and the importance of humanitarian education. The dedication of the Courage to Care team and the vulnerability of the Survivor Storytellers created a profound learning experience for everyone involved.

Students reflected on the visit, sharing that it was eye-opening and made them realise the importance of standing up against unfairness. Many felt more confident to be upstanders and make a difference in their community.

The visit not only educated our students about the importance of being an upstander but also inspired them to take action in their own lives. We are grateful to the Courage to Care team for their dedication to fostering a more compassionate and just society.
