ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL PRIMARY & TEACHING & LEARNING

Congratulations to those students who received recognition of their effort across many aspects of school life at our annual Awards Night last week.  There was such an array of talent on show and everyone thoroughly deserved the accolades they received.  Of course, there would have been a few students who may have been disappointed not to receive an award and I spoke to the students about this at our assembly on Thursday.  Many of the students gathered in the multi-purpose room on that day, would have been able to give details about how they had improved as a learner during this year but not everyone can receive an award. I acknowledged with the students that disappointment is natural but that I hoped they would find the grace to congratulate those who did receive an award.

We are now towards the end of Week 4 and the term is beginning to fly.  Our days are busy with learning and this includes Dance Fever, swimming and, with the return of Dr Cuskelly, the music program has recommenced.  This is a longer term than usual and we will be taking every opportunity to help the students consolidate their learning across the curriculum in order that they can set themselves up for success next year.

In a few weeks time we will be hosting the Prep 2025 Practice Mornings and we are looking forward to welcoming those children who will be joining St Joseph's next year.  As part of their transition program, Mrs McNichol has visited Aussie Kindies and Milestones this week and will visit C&K in early November.  We know that one of the key factors in a child's success at school is the building of relationships with the teacher and by visiting the children in their familiar environment and reading them stories, Glenda has started to do this.  I would like to thank the teachers at these three centres for allowing us to visit.

I would like to welcome Mr Fleming back to school after his period of long service leave as well as Mrs Wilson who enjoyed a trip overseas.  Next week, Mrs Campbell will start her period of leave and Mrs Power will take her place in Year 5.

As always, I encourage parents and carers to speak with the class teachers or directly with me if you have any concerns or wish to bring anything to our attention.
With God's blessings
