PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kendall_OAM_Andrew.jpgIt has been a very busy fortnight at St Joseph’s School with much to be proud of.

The Athletics Carnival was a wonderful community event on a beautiful, sunny Stanthorpe day. Thanks to all students for competing enthusiastically and with great spirit, and to all the families and friends who turned up to support the students.

On the sporting front, many of our students have been involved in trials and competitions. The highlight, no doubt, is Year 6 student Emma Pradella competing for Queensland at the National Schools Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast.

Similarly, our debaters have showed they can compete successfully against all comers in the reaching the regional finals of the Queensland Debating Union Competition. Debating is a very intellectually challenging activity which our students have excelled in for a number of years.

In another intellectually challenging sport, our primary and secondary chess players enjoyed their involvement in the Warwick Regional Interschool Chess Tournament, hosted by Assumption College Warwick. They came away with a number of good performances.

Well done to all students for getting involved in the many activities on offer as students at St Joseph’s School, doing their best and competing in the right spirit.

Finally, I would like to once again congratulate Mrs Sarah Yates, Assistant to the Principal Primary and Teaching & Learning, and parent, Mrs Jodie Cosmo who won their respective categories at the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Excellence Awards -Excellence in Leadership - School/Kindergarten Leadership (Sarah) and Excellence in Education Support - Volunteer Support (Jodie). We are blessed to have such wonderful staff and parent volunteers at St Joseph’s School.

God Bless

Andrew Kendall OAM
