The Spiritual Journey of the Ascension

Today, Thursday 9th May we celebrate the Ascension—a moment where Jesus ascended into to be with His heavenly Father.

Imagine standing on a hillside, gazing upward as Jesus, risen from the dead, ascends into the sky. His earthly mission fulfilled, He leaves His disciples with a promise: “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” The Ascension marks the culmination of His earthly ministry and the beginning of a new chapter.

The Ascension reminds us that our lives are not confined to the mundane. We, too, can transcend limitations—our doubts, fears, and shortcomings. We can rise above our own struggles, seeking higher purpose and deeper connection.  And just as Jesus commissioned his apostles to go and continue His work, we too are asked to share love, kindness, and compassion.

The Ascension isn’t just an account written in to the history books, but a reminder to us that our lives matter. We’re part of a grand narrative. Our call is to live intentionally and trust beyond what we can see, rising above the ordinary, embracing hope, and fulfilling our purpose.
