ASSISTANT TO THE PRINCIPAL PRIMARY & TEACHING & LEARNING

We have had another busy fortnight on the Primary Campus with our learning, visits from special guests, the first disco of the year and preparations for the Apple and Grape parade on 2 March.
This week, the Year 6 students were involved in a Leadership Retreat. This was an opportunity for them to explore in more detail what it means to be the leaders of the Primary Campus and consider how key people in our school’s history might be able to guide us in this responsibility. As part of this significant event for the Year 6 students, they were presented with their Primary Leader badges which were first blessed by Father Gonzo. In the coming days there will be more conversation with the Year 6 children about how leadership can be enacted on the Primary Campus.
Last week, students in Years 3/4 were visited by some NRL representatives last week on their ‘Road to Regions’ campaign. The children listened to what strategies NRL and NRLW stars implement to be their personal best. Children shared how they can be their best at school recognising how our learning dispositions have a key role.
Being a supportive team player was also an important part of being ‘simply your best’.
We also recently held our first disco of the school year with Fr Gonzo providing the music. Thank you to Mrs Campbell and her class for organising the event and setting up the MPR in the theme of summer. We were also grateful for the baking that many families provided for sale on the night. We are still counting the money and we will let everyone know once we have total. From this, a donation will be made to Project Compassion which supports Catholic initiatives across the world.
A reminder that Parent Teacher consultations commence in Week 7 and this week, parents were sent the details necessary to book an appointment. We strongly encourage students form Years 3 - 6 to attend with their parents if this is possible. Afterall, the conversation will be about their learning progress to date and in the future.
With regards to the Apple and Grape Festival this coming weekend, we do hope that as many of our primary students as possible will be able to join us to show their support for the school. Please see the email you have been sent for all the details. Thank you to all those who have being involved in the preparations for our float. We are looking forward to sharing our design with the community on Saturday.
With God's blessings
