WELCOME TO ST JOSEPH'S SCHOOL
We would like to warmly welcome our existing and new families to the school for 2024 and to welcome our new staff. All of our new staff bring experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching to the school. Our community of teachers continues to grow, but our mission remains the same; we are here to serve, teach and help our students.
Ms Georgia Brown – Secondary Teacher (Humanities & English)
• Georgia is a highly rated graduate teacher who has a number of years’ experience as a teacher aide at Kedron State High School.
• She has a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from Queensland University of
Technology.
• Georgia’s mother recently moved to Stanthorpe to run a business here.
Mrs Jane Clarke – Primary Middle Leader
• Jane is a very experienced and capable teacher who has worked in a number of
Catholic schools in Queensland and New South Wales. In Term 4 2023 she taught
Year 2 and Year 3 Mathematics and English here at St Joseph’s School.
• She has a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies from the
University of Newcastle and a Graduate Certificate in Theology with a specialisation
in Religious Education from Broken Bay Institute, University of Newcastle.
• Jane has two children attending St Joseph’s School.
Mrs Madilyn Cronin – Secondary Teacher (Humanities & Business)
• Madilyn is an experienced teacher coming to us from Ballina Coast High School.
• She has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from the Southern Cross
University.
• Madilyn has moved to Stanthorpe with her husband.
Mrs Kathy Gordon – Primary Teacher
• Kathy graduated as a primary teacher in 2022 and taught at St Mary’s Primary
School, Ipswich in 2023. She also has extensive experience in early childhood
education.
• She has a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood ) from Curtain University.
• Kathy and her husband have moved to Stanthorpe with their two children who will
attend St Joseph’s School.
Ms Katrina Hawira – Secondary Teacher (Humanities, English & Religion)
• Katrina is an experienced teacher coming to us from Unity College at Caloundra.
• She has a Bachelor of Education from Griffith University and a Bachelor
Communication.
• Katrina has moved to Stanthorpe with her two girls who will attend St Joseph’s
School.
Ms Lucille (Luci) Hollingsworth – Secondary Teacher (Visual Arts & Humanities)
• Luci has experience teaching locally, in remote communities and overseas.
• She has a Bachelor of Environmental Management with Honours from the University of Queensland and a Master of Teaching from Central Coast University.
• Luci grew up in Stanthorpe.
Mrs Wendy Miller – School Officer (Assisting Student Learning)
• Wendy did some teacher aide work with us in 2023 and joins us on a full-time basis
this year. She works very well with the students and staff.
• She has a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention.
Ms Wendy Olsen – Secondary Teacher (English)
• Wendy is a very experienced teacher who has taught in Queensland, New South
Wales and the Northern Territory. She is coming from St Francis De Sales Regional
College, Leeton, New South Wales. She worked as a Library Technician prior to
teaching.
• She has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Queensland and Associate
Diploma of Applied Science (Library Technician Studies).
• Wendy has moved to Stanthorpe to be closer to her family in Toowoomba and enjoy
what our community has to offer.
Mr George Shannon – Head of Mathematics & STEM
• George is an experienced teacher who is coming from Bellbird Park State Secondary College, located in the City of Ipswich.
• He has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of Queensland
and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) from Australian Catholic
University.
• George has moved to Stanthorpe with his wife and young child.
Mrs Amelia Wilshire – Primary Teacher (Drama & Visual Art)
• Amelia is an experienced primary and secondary teacher including time as a teacher at St Joseph’s School in 2013.
• She has a Bachelor of Arts (Communications - Theatre & Media) from Charles Sturt
University and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Edith Cowan University.
• Amelia and her husband, Todd, are well known in the community and their children
attend St Joseph’s School.

Mrs Rachel Leslie, our Guidance Counsellor for the last two years, has finished work at St Joseph’s School to take on an academic role at the University of Southern
Queensland. Rachel did a wonderful job in her time here and we wish her the best for the future.
We also welcomed Mrs Jennifer Fenn on Monday 29th January as she commences her position as the Guidance Counsellor here at St Joseph's. She is an exceptional guidance counsellor and psychologist, with vast experience across schools in the region. She has a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours from the University of New England. We look forward to the great support Jennifer will provide to students and families.
