ASSISTANT TO THE PRINCIPAL PRIMARY & TEACHING & LEARNING

At this time of the year, we naturally start to consider the future and this week we have welcomed the Prep 2024 students for their first practice morning. There was much excitement on Wednesday as they undertook lots of fun activities in the Prep classroom. Thanks to Glenda McNichol for her organisation of the day and to Dr James Cuskelly and Lara Beckett for their assistance with this experience. We look forward to seeing all the children again next week.
For students in Years 1 - 4 in 2024, parents are advised that Mr Kendall has recently sent an email with some important news around the class structure. Further details will be provided over the coming weeks.
Whilst looking forward, we are also spending time consolidating the learning progress of this year and the students are currently undertaking two assessments to determine their growth across the year in reading and mathematics. The results so far are testimony to the quality teaching that is evident across the primary campus and to the commitment of the learners to constantly look to challenge and improve themselves. As a Visible Learning school, we are focused on every student achieving one year's growth for each year of teaching.
Last week in assembly, we welcomed Mr Martin Corbett from the RSL Sub Branch Office in Stanthorpe who presented us with some chalk in order that we could participate in the Draw to Remember campaign, which is an initiative of the RSL to reflect the significance of Remembrance Day amongst young people. These photos depict the start of the creative process.

Finally, we want to finish the term and the year well and request that all children abide by the uniform policy until the final day of term. The same is true of our behaviour expectations in the classrooms and around the campus. Thank you for your support as parents and care givers.
With God's blessings
Sarah Yates
