A Trip to Remember…
Over the September holidays I had the opportunity to travel, together with other Principals, APREs, and TCS staff to the Holy Land. We began our journey in Jordan, floating in the Dead Sea, exploring the site of Jesus’ baptism, the Jordan River, and historical Petra.
Crossing over the border into Israel, we enjoyed a few days in Lake Tiberias, swimming in the Sea of Galilee where so many events took place during the lifetime of Jesus.
Bethlehem was a city where everything, from alcoholic beverages to eateries reflected the significance of the birth place of Jesus. I was able to visit the place where Jesus was born, together with other sites where a number of miracles are believed to have occurred, as well as significant sites where Jesus’ teachings took place.
Travelling through Old Jerusalem was amazing and inspiring. Visiting the Holy Sepulchre, one of the holiest sites for Christians in the world was mesmerising. And then to see the different quarters of the old city bustling with people and stalls, was an experience to remember.
I am extremely grateful that this opportunity presented itself to me and has certainly strengthened and changed my faith in ways too difficult to describe.
I was deeply saddened to see the conflict erupt recently and I hold all those involved and affected by this turmoil in my prayers.
“Lord, please free our world from conflict.
Bring unity to troubled nations.
and may Your peace reign in every heart. Amen”
