Catholic Schools Netball Carnival
Held on Thursday 1st August during Catholic Education Week, the Catholic Schools Netball Carnival is a key annual sporting event in the Catholic School commuity calendar. This year St Joseph's School enterered two Year 5 teams and one Year 6 team into the competition. Under the supervision of Mrs Kayelene O’Dea, Mrs Bernadette Brunckhorst, Mr David Fleming and Miss Erin Canavan the teams travelled to Toowoomba to compete against various other Catholic schools from across the Toowoomba diocese. This is the first year that St Joseph’s School has entered teams in the competition, with all teams performing extremely well. The Year 6 team were undefeatable, winning all of their games while the two Year 5 teams only lost one game each! Well done to all the players!
RED LION PLATE SOCCER TOURNAMENT
Twenty-five students from Years 7 - 12 were selected to represent St Joseph’s School in either the Open Boys or Open Girls Red Lion Plate Soccer Tournament. Held in Toowoomba on Tuesday 6th August, students played a round robin style tournament at Highfields Sports Precinct against schools and colleges from across the Darling Downs. The Open Girls were undefeated in all of their games with one 3-nil win and two draws, while despite some entertaining soccer unfortunately the boys lost all of their games.
