Welcome back to the new school year. I hope that all our families enjoyed a relaxing holiday and that the children have returned to school with an eagerness to get started on the 2024 learning journey. An especially warm welcome is extended to all our new families and the many students who have walked through the gates of St Joseph’s School for the first time. I trust that for all our families, your association with our school will be a long and prosperous one.As a school, we are looking forward to another successful year, building on the achievements of last year.

For those involved in the school community, each day will present opportunities as well as challenges and the manner in which both are received and embraced will ultimately determine the level of satisfaction and success each one of us gains from this year. A positive and resilient attitude is key, as is a willingness to co-operate with, and look out for others. This is the message that has been shared with the children from the start of the term and this will be continued throughout the year.

Returning to school following a long break is not always easy and for some children there can be a level of anxiety as they adjust to school routines again and miss spending time with their family members during the day. We understand this and will support the children and their families in this transition period. Please let us know if your child/ren are having particular difficulties.

The last two weeks have been marked by some significant events.  The Prep cohort of 2024 have received their yellow hats, courtesy of the P&F and have also rang the school bell to symbolise the start of their educational journey.  Also, the Year 6 students have been presented with 'Leader' shirts. In all the classrooms, learning has commenced with enthusiasm with all classes exploring what it means to be an effective learner at St Joseph's.

With God's blessings
