"Catholic Education Week – A Community of Faith, Hope and Love
Next week we celebrate Queensland Catholic Education Week – an annual event held to highlight, celebrate and acknowledge the great things taking place in Catholic Schools every day.
Catholic education at St. Joseph’s School endeavours to make a difference in one another’s lives. It challenges individuals to live the message of Jesus Christ and embody the Mercy values in all aspects of daily life. Catholic education strives to ensure that all reach their full potential as compassionate, contributing, life-giving members of society.
This year’s theme of Faith, Hope and Love encourages us to use and develop these virtues as we grow in our spiritual lives. Being touched by faith enables us to open ourselves to the gift of faith through right action; being in touch with hope allows us to seek true happiness, placing our trust in God; and a touch of love, encourages us to freely choose to love the other not for our own good, but for the other’s good. When times are difficult or we are overwhelmed by the complexities of life, remember “…we must wear faith and love as a breastplate, and our hope of salvation as a helmet”. (1Thessalonians 5:8)
