PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Recently the Courier Mail highlighted data from the Better Education website about the best performing schools in Queensland. It was pleasing to see that St Joseph’s School was named as one of the Top 150 secondary schools, placing 119 (up from 135 in 2021). Effectively, this places us in the top 20% of schools across the state. Similarly, our primary has performed very well, rating in the top 21% of Queensland schools.

This data is a reflection of the high quality teaching and learning that goes on across the whole school, both by the staff and the students. It should also be noted that given the average socio-economic background and resources of St Joseph’s School compared to schools that rank above us or closely below us (these other schools have a higher average socio-economic background and are much better resourced), we are performing exceptional well. My thanks to all staff, students and families for working together so well.

On Saturday St Joseph’s Parish hosted the Debutant Ball. I was honoured to attend and see so many of our students immaculately dressed and presented and sharing their dreams for the future. Well done to staff member, Gianna Zannata-Blaxland, for coordinating a wonderful evening. Thanks to the St Joseph’s School Parents and Friends Association for kindly volunteering to run the bar. Whilst Father Gonzo was not able attend, as he is on leave in Mexico, he left some very good words of wisdom for the debutants and their partners which I share with you. It says so much about the strength of women and the power of family.

Thanks to those parents who helped out during the working bee on Saturday morning. We are also grateful to Todd and Amelia Wilshire (CRT) for donating the mulch for the primary gardens. The generosity of all families is much appreciated.

God Bless
