A New Spirit 

This week I attended an APRE Network Day and one of our sessions focused on the Catholic School community its changing demographics and societal influences.  After reviewing the data and some discussion with colleagues, I came away with the following thoughts. 

Life is not static, and we find that many things are not as they were before.  As much as we may like to, we can’t go back to the good old days.  Yet, how much time and energy do we spend wishing things were as they used to be? Or wishing we could go back to the past, when our kids were younger, we were younger, or life was simpler. 

Instead, we need to accept and celebrate the past for what it is and be fully present to this day, to embrace what is before us and reach out to others we encounter in our daily lives. Our arms need to be free to receive and embrace from God a new spirit for the here and now.
