LIBRARY NEWS
THANK YOU FOR DONATION
Thank you so much to Tiziana Zorzi-Houweling who has donated three lovely Early Years Information books to the library to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the first moon landing. Tiziana is a past student and the founder of St Joseph’s School Alumni Association. She and her family now live in Dallas, Texas U.S.A and we always love catching up with her. Our students really enjoy information books so they will be well read!
BOOK OF THE YEAR
In library lesson time, either with Mrs Lesley Grant or Miss Erin Canavan, a number of our classes are focussing on reading, exploring and enjoying the short-listed finalists for Children’s Book Council Book of the Year. The Early Childhood section has some great reads this year. It will be interesting to see which one the students choose as the winner. Will they agree with the judges choice? Probably not!

BOOK WEEK
During Term 3, as always, we celebrate Book Week! This year Book Week falls during Week 6 from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August. Two very popular events involve the whole school.
Firstly on Thursday 15th August as a lead-up to Book Week, we enjoy a “Books, Bears and Blnkets” picnic at lunch time. All parents, family members and friends are welcome to attend and share lunch with the children on the Primary oval. More information to come!
Secondly our annual Book Parade falls on Tuesday 20th August from 9.00 - 10.00 am in the Bathersby Centre. Students dress as their favourite book character and parade with their class in front of the whole school audience. I am sure that many of the students are already talking about their costumes at home! It is a big favourite on the school calendar!
This year’s Book Week theme is “Reading is my Secret Power.” No doubt quite a few superheroes will be attending the Book Parade! More information to come, but please see us anytime in the library if you have any questions about Book Week.
ACCESSIT: ST JOSEPH’S SCHOOL NEW LIBRARY DATA BASE
We have transitioned to a sparkling new library system that is both user friendly and inviting for students and staff. It can also be accessed from home at https://au.accessit.online/STJ26.
We encourage students to utilise AccessIt at home; not only will they have the library database at their fingertips, they will also have links to other resources such as World Book Online, EBSCO databases (Secondary) and ebooks. Students login with their usual username and password (only once for each home device).
