ASSISTANT TO THE PRINCIPAL PRIMARY

Next week, Year 6 and then Year 5 students will embark on their residential visit for 2022.  Both groups will visit Camp Cooby which is north of Toowoomba for a two-night stay with days filled with physically and mentally challenging activities as well as the opportunity to further develop their leadership and team building skills.

Having used this same facility last year, we know that the level of care and instruction is high and the food is delicious and plentiful.  We anticipate that all the students will have a great time and will be personally challenged at times to move beyond their comfort zone. However, the thought of being away from home for two nights can be daunting for some.

The teachers are prepared for all that will come their way next week and I thank Ms Thompson, Ms Day, Mrs Campbell and Ms Badcock in advance for accompanying the students on this adventure and for the support they will offer the students.

Thoughts of the students:

I am looking forward to:

  • the raft building
  • the water slide
  • sharing a tent with friends
  • the activities and the food
  • stepping out of my comfort zone
  • the water activities and the food
  • having fun with my friends and class and getting to know them better
  • trying new things and going out of my comfort zone
  • being a leader and having fun whilst still learning

Thank you to all the students who embraced the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book character last week.  Each year, it is such a delight to see the creativity of the students - and their parents !

Finally, congratulations also to all those students who competed in the Darling Downs athletics competition in Toowoomba last week. They represented their school and the Granite Belt well.

With God's blessings
