ASSISTANT TO THE PRINCIPAL PRIMARY

As the semester draws to a close, I would like to acknowledge the work of the students over the past 18 weeks and also that of their teachers and support staff.

The terms have passed quickly it seems any opportunities presented to the students have generally been grasped with enthusiasm, a desire to do their best and to also be of service to others. Whether it has been academic work, sporting competitions, the Eisteddfod or learning how to develop friendships, there has been much learning taking place.

Only last week I was shown some writing by some of our younger students which was a delight to read and showed how much they had grown as writers so far this year. I was also able to visit the Prep classroom after they had just learnt a new strategy for problem solving in Maths and saw the excitement at some of them being able to name and demonstrate the steps. Whilst on playground duty one day last week, I witnessed a tall Year 6 child kneel down to comfort a Prep student who was distressed after an argument over a game he was playing with friends.

I could go on with example after example of such experiences around the Primary Campus because there are so many each day. This is why being a part of the St Joseph's School community is so special.

With God's blessings,

Sarah Yates
